Part of the Royal Mint's long-running Beatrix Potter licensing program, which began in 2016 and has generated more secondary-market speculation than almost any comparable modern British commemorative series. The Peter Rabbit character first appeared in Potter's privately printed 1901 booklet before Frederick Warne & Co. published the commercial edition the following year — making the IP now well over a century old and firmly in the hands of Penguin Random House.
