Reverse description The reverse presents a stylised rendition of the London Underground 'Roundel' logo, inspired by Man Ray's celebrated 1938 poster for London Transport, as interpreted by engraver Edwina Ellis. The iconic circular device, comprising a horizontal bar bisecting a ring, is rendered in bold relief against a finely worked field. The legend UNDERGROUND appears across the horizontal bar of the roundel, flanked by the commemorative dates 1863 and 2013 marking the 150th anniversary of the world's first underground railway.
