Beschrijving keerzijde The copper-nickel centre displays a dynamic classical scene depicting the Eighth Labour of Hercules: the muscular, bearded hero is shown standing to the right, firmly grasping the bridles of two rearing mares, while the prostrate figure of Diomedes lies trampled beneath the horses' hooves. A legend panel inscribed 'THE MARES OF DIOMEDES' appears in the upper field of the centre disc, and a Greek key decorative border runs along the lower edge of the central scene. The denomination '2 POUNDS' is inscribed in the lower arc of the nickel brass ring, with the series legend 'THE LABOURS OF HERCULES' arcing around the upper portion of the ring, all enclosed by a beaded inner border; the die-letter marks 'AA' and mint mark 'PM' appear below the central design.
