Reverse description The reverse, designed by calligrapher Stephen Raw, presents a bold typographic composition filling the silver inner disc with the words THE truth UNtOLd, THE Pity Of War, rendered in an expressive mixed-case calligraphic script set against a textured, craquelure-like field evoking the scarred landscape of the Western Front. The lettering is arranged in four stacked lines, increasing in dynamism toward the lower register, with the engraver's initials SR visible to the lower left. The gold-plated outer ring bears the commemorative legend THE FIRST WORLD WAR · ARMISTICE · 1918 in the upper arc and the denomination TWO POUNDS in the lower arc, all separated by raised dots.
