| Beschrijving voorzijde | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, as modelled by Raphael David Maklouf, with a pearl necklace visible at the truncation. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field, befitting the piedfort proof format. The circumferential legend reads QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND, with the engraver's initials RDM incuse below the bust truncation, and the date 1993 positioned in the lower exergue. |

Alderney gained the right to issue its own coinage in 1983, making the 1993 Coronation Jubilee release part of a still-young issuing tradition. Piedfort strikes — double-thickness blanks by definition — were a format revived by the Royal Mint in the early 1980s primarily as collector vehicles, and Alderney's issues were struck under contract using that same infrastructure.
The fortieth anniversary of the Coronation in 1993 generated a clutch of competing commemoratives across Channel Island jurisdictions. Alderney's piedfort, with its substantial heft relative to the standard version, was issued in limited numbers and sold largely through subscription.
