Issued to mark the 40th anniversary of the 1953 coronation, this piece belongs to a wave of Commonwealth commemoratives that flooded the collector market in the early 1990s. Jersey's issues from this period were struck by the Royal Mint under contract. Mintages were set with an eye toward subscription sales rather than circulation, so virtually all surviving examples are in original mint state.
