| Descrizione del rovescio | A boldly rendered Scottish thistle in full bloom occupies the centre of the field, its finely detailed capitulum and serrated leaves rendered in high relief. The thistle is superimposed upon the diagonal arms of the Saltire (St Andrew's Cross), symbol of Scotland, where the XIII Commonwealth Games were held in Edinburgh. Olive branches flank the composition on either side, evoking the spirit of the Games, with the date 1986 arched above and the engraver's initials N S inscribed below the thistle stem. |
