Obverse description The third definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, wearing the George IV State Diadem and draped in regal attire, as designed by Raphael David Maklouf. The portrait is rendered in high relief in keeping with the proof finish. A circular legend surrounds the effigy, with the denomination appearing in the lower field. The composition is characteristic of Maklouf's refined and formal treatment of the royal portrait introduced in 1985.
