Reverse description The reverse depicts a detailed naturalistic rendering of a Bird of Paradise (Apus) in flight, its wings spread wide and long decorative tail plumage flowing beneath, occupying the copper-nickel centre field. The bird extends across the boundary of the bimetallic ring, its plumage continuing into the nickel brass outer ring at the upper left. The lower portion of the centre field displays the star pattern of the Apus constellation, shown as connected circular nodes with celestial coordinate lines and a graduated degree arc chart rendered on the outer ring. The inscription BIRD OF PARADISE - APUS appears in the field to the right of centre, with SOUTHERN CONSTELLATIONS arcing across the upper ring and the denomination £2 inscribed at the base of the outer ring.
