Struck to mark the Queen Mother's 90th birthday in 1990, this Jersey gold issue belongs to a wave of Commonwealth commemoratives that flooded the market during the late 1980s and early 1990s — a period when several Crown Dependencies leveraged their issuing authority aggressively for collector revenue.
