| Reverse description | Central field depicts a group of three British soldiers in World War II combat gear, armed with rifles, disembarking from a landing craft flying the Union Jack, evoking the Liberation of Guernsey on 9 May 1945. A handshake motif is visible in the lower left, symbolising the reunion of liberators and islanders. The commemorative legend 50TH ANNIVERSARY LIBERATION arcs across the upper periphery, with the date span 1945-1995 on the right, and the denomination TWO POUNDS appears in the lower exergual border, flanked by decorative dots. |

| Additional information |
The Liberation of the Channel Islands on 9 May 1945 ended nearly five years of German occupation — the only British territory to fall under Nazi control during the war. Guernsey's civilian population had endured forced labor requisitions, food shortages severe enough to cause starvation by early 1945, and the deportation of British-born residents to internment camps in Germany. The fiftieth anniversary in 1995 was marked across the islands with ceremonies that drew surviving veterans and former deportees.
