Guernsey issued this coin to mark the 1986 Commonwealth Games held in Edinburgh — the first Games hosted by Scotland. The Edinburgh Games were notable for a politically fraught boycott led by several African and Caribbean nations protesting Margaret Thatcher's refusal to impose sanctions on apartheid South Africa, ultimately reducing participation to 26 of the 59 invited nations.
