Beschrijving voorzijde The fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled by Ian Rank-Broadley, is depicted in right-facing profile bust within the cupro-nickel inner disc. The Queen wears the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara and a pearl drop earring, with the engraver's initials IRB incuse below the neck truncation. The surrounding nickel-brass ring bears the circumferential legend ELIZABETH·II·DEI·GRA·REG·FID·DEF separated by raised dots, with the legend interrupted by the coin's bimetallic join. A beaded inner border delineates the boundary between the ring and the central disc.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse, designed by Robert Evans and struck to commemorate the bicentenary of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, depicts the soaring wrought-iron arched roof of Paddington Station, one of Brunel's most celebrated engineering achievements. The dramatically receding fan vaulting of the station's trainsheds fills the cupro-nickel inner disc, rendered in fine relief that conveys the grandeur of Victorian industrial architecture. The name BRUNEL appears in bold incuse lettering within the lower portion of the central disc. The nickel-brass outer ring carries the date 2006 at upper left and the denomination TWO POUNDS along the lower arc, with the engraver's initials RE discreetly placed at lower right of the inner disc.
