| 附加信息 |
Donald Campbell died on Coniston Water on 4 January 1967 while attempting to break his own water speed record of 276.33 mph. Bluebird K7 had already completed a run in excess of 300 mph when Campbell, inexplicably, turned for a second run without refueling — against the advice of his team. The boat went airborne at roughly 320 mph and disintegrated. Campbell's body was not recovered until 2001; K7's wreck followed shortly after.
Guernsey has no particular geographic or historical connection to Campbell or the record attempts, which were conducted on English lakes.
