| Reverse description | The official crest of No. 617 Squadron RAF, the 'Dambusters', occupies the central copper-nickel field, surmounted by a Royal crown. The crest depicts a breached dam with cascading floodwaters within a circular roundel, flanked by laurel sprays and bearing the numerals 617 on either side. Below the roundel appears a scroll inscribed with the squadron motto APRÈS MOI LE DÉLUGE in French. The outer nickel brass ring bears the legends 617 SQUADRON DAMBUSTERS around the upper arc and AFTER ME • THE FLOOD along the lower arc, with ROYAL AIR FORCE inscribed within the inner ring of the crest. |
