Beschrijving voorzijde Uncrowned effigy of King Charles III facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and facial features, as designed by Martin Jennings. The circumferential legend reads CHARLES III·D·G·REX·F·D·2 POUNDS, with the date 2026 positioned in the lower portion of the field. The engraver's initials MJ appear discreetly at the lower right of the truncation. The mirrored proof field provides a stark contrast to the frosted portrait, enhancing the sculptural quality of the design.

Aanvullende informatie

The Royal Dragon is one of the Queen's — now King's — Beasts, a heraldic series the Royal Mint began in 2017 under Elizabeth II and has continued into the current reign. The Red Dragon of Wales carries particular dynastic weight for Charles III: his investiture as Prince of Wales in 1969 at Caernarfon Castle was steeped in Welsh heraldic imagery, making this beast less ceremonial filler and more personal emblem than most in the sequence.
