The superstructure, mast, and radar equipment are rendered in fine relief detail. Behind the warship, a partial globe or radar-grid motif occupies the upper right of the centre field, evoking the ship's wartime navigational and operational reach. The nickel-brass outer ring bears the legend HMS BELFAST arching across the upper arc, with GB (for Great Britain) completing the inscription, and the engraver's initials GB appear at lower right of the centre; raised depictions of naval equipment and map outlines continue into the ring, creating a seamless design across both metals. |
