The design is framed within a circular beaded border on the inner disc, with sprigs of wheat depicted to the left and right flanking the central motif. The legend TWO POUNDS arcs along the upper portion of the outer nickel brass ring, and the breed name HIGHLAND appears in the lower segment, completing the commemorative inscription. |

Jersey's agriculture ministry has maintained a registered Highland cattle herd on the island since the mid-twentieth century, an unusual distinction given that the breed is native to the Scottish Highlands and the Western Isles. The island's herd has been used partly for conservation grazing on coastal dunes and heathland managed by the National Trust for Jersey.
