Obverse description Crowned effigy of King Charles III facing left, wearing St. Edward's Crown, as sculpted by Martin Jennings — the first official coinage portrait of the King. The bust is unadorned save for the crown, rendered in high relief with fine sculptural detail against a deeply mirrored proof field. The engraver's initials 'MJ' appear beneath the truncation. The circumferential legend reads CHARLES III·D·G·REX·F·D·2 POUNDS·2023·, disposed around the portrait in incuse lettering typical of Royal Mint proof issues.
