Issued as part of the Royal Mint's ongoing commemorative program, this coin marks the wartime alliance between Churchill and Roosevelt — two leaders whose partnership was forged almost entirely through correspondence, telephone, and a handful of face-to-face meetings, the most consequential of which produced the Atlantic Charter in August 1941 aboard a ship off Newfoundland. Churchill crossed the Atlantic eight times during the war, more than any other Allied head of government.
