背面描述 A richly detailed naturalistic composition commemorating the bicentenary of the Zoological Society of London, featuring a Roman snail, a pigeon, and a tiger depicted in left profile, with a globe in the background symbolising the Society's global conservation mission. The design evokes the diversity of species championed by the ZSL since its foundation. The commemorative dates 1826 and 2026 flank the organisation's name in a vertical legend to the right of the central motif. The engraver's initials JO appear in the field.

附加信息

The Zoological Society of London was founded in 1826 by Stamford Raffles — better known for founding Singapore — who died just days before the Society's inaugural meeting. London Zoo itself opened to fellows in 1828 and to the paying public in 1847, making it the world's oldest scientific zoo still in operation. The ZSL today maintains one of the most significant wildlife conservation research programs globally, a function Raffles had explicitly envisioned from the outset.

This is a 2026-dated issue, placing it among the earliest Royal Mint strikes bearing the Charles III obverse on a commemorative gold proof format at this specification.
