This piece belongs to the Royal Mint's commemorative £2 program, which by 2016 had expanded so aggressively that the secondary market struggled to distinguish genuinely limited issues from high-mintage shelf-fillers. Silver-plated brass is the giveaway: Brilliant Uncirculated rather than proof tier, produced in sufficient quantity to keep retail prices modest and collector premiums thin.
