Obverse description Central field features an elaborate interlaced ducal cypher, composed of the intertwined initials of Duke Anton Ulrich rendered in an ornate Baroque script monogram. The cypher is surmounted by a large princely crown with prominent arches and fleurons. The overall design occupies the full field, with no surrounding legend, reflecting the commemorative and courtly character of the issue.

Reverse description The reverse bears a six-line Latin commemorative inscription in Roman numerals and lettering, recording the birth and death dates of Duke Anton Ulrich of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. The legend reads NATUS XVI. MAII. M.DC.XXVII / OB: XXVI. IAN / M.DCC.IV, meaning 'Born 16th May 1627, Died 26th January 1704.' In the lower portion, the mintmaster's initials HCH flank a small beaded oval cartouche bearing the denomination 2 / PF. The inscription fills the entire field in a plain, utilitarian typographic style characteristic of small German commemorative pfennig issues.
