| Obverse description | The obverse features the Imperial German eagle displayed, rendered in high relief with fully spread wings terminating in detailed feather work. The eagle bears on its breast a large heraldic shield charged with the Hohenzollern arms, and is surmounted by an Imperial crown with cross. The talons of the eagle are depicted clutching a sceptre and an orb, with decorative mantling visible at the base of the design. The mint mark letter appears at the bottom of the field, flanking the lower tail feathers on either side. The entire device is contained within a raised border with no peripheral legend on this face. |
