| 正面描述 | The obverse features an outer pearl border encircling the entire field, with the circular legend 'STADT MARBURG' arching above and '2 PFENNIG' arching below, each separated by a six-pointed star, in raised Latin lettering. A second inner pearl circle frames the central field, within which the large numeral '2' is prominently displayed in stylized relief. A small round hole pierces the coin at the top, characteristic of wartime German Notgeld iron coinage. |

Marburg issued iron notgeld in 1917 under the same wartime metal shortages that stripped copper from municipal circulation across Germany — the Reichsbank's requisitioning of copper and nickel coins for munitions production left city administrations scrambling to cover small-change gaps with whatever ferrous stock they could source. Marburg's pieces were struck in limited local runs and never intended for anything beyond temporary municipal use.
