Reverse description At center, a raised square frame encloses the large numeral 2 denoting the denomination, rendered in bold relief against a recessed field. The legend ERSATZGELD appears along the upper border and PFENNIG along the lower border, both following the contour of the square coin shape. The border is ornamented with a continuous beaded or rope-pattern inner rim, with scrollwork motifs at the lateral sides, characteristic of wartime German emergency coinage (Notgeld) design.
