| Aanvullende informatie |
Schusters Warenhaus was among the network of German department stores that issued private zinc tokens during the First World War, when the imperial government's requisition of copper and nickel for munitions production created an acute shortage of small-denomination coinage. These Kriegsgeld-era store tokens filled the gap left by official issues, functioning as fractional change redeemable only within the issuing establishment — a deliberate restriction that also served as captive advertising.
The Menzel reference numbers suggest two catalogued die varieties for this specific piece.
