Additional information

Issued by a consortium of three Leipzig industrial firms — Jäger, Rothe, and Siemens-Werke — this zinc token belongs to the vast flood of privately issued Notgeld that filled the void left by acute small-change shortages during and immediately after World War I. Municipal and commercial issuers alike resorted to zinc, iron, and even compressed coal dust when copper and nickel were diverted to the war effort.

The Siemens connection here is almost certainly to the broader Siemens industrial network, which maintained substantial manufacturing operations in Saxony.
