| Beschrijving voorzijde | Plain pink paper note of utilitarian Notgeld type, printed in black letterpress on a salmon-pink stock. The design consists entirely of typeset text arranged within a double-rule border composed of an outer dotted line and an inner solid line; the date "1920" appears in each of the four corners. All inscriptions are set in a Gothic blackletter typeface, with the denomination line rendered in a larger display size at centre. |

| Opmerkingen |
Ettal Abbey's estate administration issued this note during the acute small-change shortage that gripped Germany in 1920, when municipal authorities, private firms, and ecclesiastical bodies alike printed their own Kleingeldersatz to keep local commerce moving. The Klostergutsverwaltung — the monastic estate management office — functioned as a quasi-commercial operation running farmland, forestry, and a brewery, giving it both the economic rationale and the local authority to circulate scrip among its workers and suppliers.
Notes of this type almost never left the immediate community. That insularity is precisely why surviving examples tend to surface in good condition.
