Gewerkschaft Heldrungen II was a mining cooperative operating the Heldrungen potash works in Saxony-Anhalt, one of hundreds of German industrial firms that issued emergency token coinage — Werksgeld — for use in company stores and canteens when small-denomination state coinage became impractical or scarce. Iron was the default choice for wartime and interwar industrial tokens; copper and nickel had strategic value elsewhere.
