正面描述 Central device features the eagle of Brandenburg-Prussia displayed within a plain inner circle, with a shield or heraldic charge at its breast. The surrounding legend reads NVMMVS RAVENSBERG in Latin characters, identifying the issuing county. The hammered flan exhibits characteristic irregular edges and uneven surface texture typical of early seventeenth-century German minor coinage. The design is rendered in low relief with somewhat crude workmanship consistent with small-denomination copper issues of the period.

附加信息

George William inherited Ravensberg through the Hohenzollern claim to the Jülich-Cleves-Berg succession crisis, a territorial dispute that had dragged through imperial courts since 1609 and eventually drew in both Dutch and Brandenburg troops. By 1620, the county was administratively his but physically contested — the Thirty Years' War had just begun, and small copper pfennig issues like this one were practical necessities for local commerce at a moment when political control of the region remained genuinely unresolved.
