Obverse description The arms of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg displayed on an escutcheon featuring the characteristic alternating barry stripes and rouelles of the Ernestine Saxon line, surmounted by a crowned helmet within an ornate baroque cartouche with scrolling foliate mantling to either side. The shield fills the central field, with no surrounding legend, typical of minor Pfennig coinage of the period.
