Additional information

Brandenburg-Ansbach in 1752 was under Charles William Frederick, the so-called "Wild Margrave," whose erratic rule and financial mismanagement left the margraviate's treasury perpetually strained. Small copper issues like this one were largely a fiscal necessity — fractional coinage in the Franconian Circle was chronically undersupplied, and local rulers minted aggressively to meet demand while extracting seigniorage profit. Charles William Frederick died the following year, 1757, leaving no legitimate heir, which ultimately set the margraviate on a slow path toward absorption into Prussia by 1791.
