| Obverse description | Within a square field with rounded corners, the municipal coat of arms of Aalen — a displayed eagle crowned and bearing a shield on its breast — occupies the central field, with the date 1918 flanking the lower portion of the eagle, numerals split to either side. The circular legend STADTGEMEINDE arcs around the upper portion of the design, with AALEN inscribed below along the base. Small six-pointed stars punctuate the corners of the square field, and a raised border frames the entire composition. |
