Aanvullende informatie

Uruguay's shift to copper-aluminium-nickel for this series came as part of a broader monetary restructuring following the economic turbulence of the late 1980s, when the country had been forced to repeatedly redenominate its currency. The 2 Peso Uruguayo denomination was introduced with the 1993 monetary reform that replaced the Nuevo Peso at a rate of 1000:1 — effectively erasing three zeros from everyday transactions.

The alloy itself was chosen for durability and resistance to corrosion in a country where coastal humidity accelerates wear on softer metals. Production ran across multiple die pairs over the thirteen-year span, accounting for the range of catalog references assigned to what is nominally a single type.
