| Obverse description | Intaglio-printed in black on pale paper with a fine guilloche underprint. An oval vignette at left bears a bust portrait of José Rizal in three-quarter view, framed by foliate scrollwork and tropical vegetation. The center carries the bold letterpress legend PHILIPPINE ISLANDS / TWO PESOS flanked by large numeral 2s in ornate cartouches at each corner, while a circular red treasury seal inscribed Manila, Philippine Islands appears at right, accompanied by two facsimile signatures below — those of the Governor General and the Treasurer. |

| Reverse description | Printed entirely in blue, the reverse is dominated by a large central guilloche medallion enclosing the numeral 2, flanked symmetrically by crossed cannons and laurel branches rendered in fine intaglio line work. Hexagonal numeral-2 counters occupy the upper corners, with scallop-shaped numeral-2 cartouches at the lower corners, all set within an elaborate engine-turned border. The legend PHILIPPINE ISLANDS runs across the top with TREASURY CERTIFICATE inscribed on each side, and TWO PESOS appears in a bold panel at the bottom center. |
