| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in black intaglio on pale paper with a dense lathe-work border repeating the word "DOS" throughout the frame. At left, a portrait vignette of a uniformed military figure is set within an oval. At centre, the numeral "2" appears in an ornate guilloche rosette flanked by a matching rosette at right, with a finely engraved vignette of a spaniel's head between them. The diagonal arc inscription "BANCO DE LA PROVINCIA DE / BUENOS AIRES" dominates the upper field, with the date "1° Enero de 1871" above, the denomination "DOS PESOS FUERTES" in bold letterpress at centre-bottom, and the promise text "Pagará al portador y á la vista en moneda de oro de curso legal" in script below the central vignette. |
