Below the arms, a letterpress text records the Empire's promise to pay two pesos under the Decree of 20 December 1822, dated México 1 de Enero de 1823, with three manuscript signatures at the foot; both lateral margins carry a geometric border incorporating the repeated legend DOS PESOS.
