正面描述 The obverse bears two portrait vignettes in intaglio: a bearded gentleman to the left and a clean-shaven gentleman in formal attire to the right, both set within oval frames against a fine guilloche underprint. A central vignette at top depicts a horse-drawn carriage in motion, flanked by the bank title BANCO DE LA PROVINCIA / BUENOS AIRES in bold letterpress. The denomination DOS PESOS DE ORO is inscribed across the lower central field, with the date 1º DE ENERO DE 1883 at the top and a serial number at right.

备注

The Banco de la Província de Buenos Aires occupied an unusual position in Argentine monetary history — technically a provincial institution, it functioned for much of the nineteenth century as the de facto national bank, issuing currency that circulated far beyond Buenos Aires province. By 1883, that arrangement was increasingly untenable, and federal pressure to consolidate banking authority was mounting.

American Bank Note Company produced the series in New York, as they did for the majority of Argentine provincial issues in this period. PS546 is scarce in grades above Fine; the province's notes suffered heavy circulation and the paper of this era tends to go soft at the folds.
