| Aanvullende informatie |
Argentina's first commercial oil discovery occurred at Comodoro Rivadavia in Chubut Province on December 13, 1907, when a government drilling team searching for fresh water struck petroleum at roughly 540 meters depth. The find was entirely accidental. Within months, the state moved to nationalize the field rather than cede it to private interests — a decision that eventually led to the founding of YPF in 1922, one of Latin America's earliest state oil companies.
The KM#145.1 designation distinguishes the reeded-edge variety from its plain-edge counterpart, both struck in the same year for circulation.
