| Poznámky |
The Free Samar Currency Board was one of several guerrilla monetary authorities operating in the Philippine islands during the Japanese occupation. These provincial emergency issuers emerged because the Japanese Military Administration's peso rendered established currency politically unacceptable to resistance-aligned communities — accepting it was, in practical terms, collaboration.
Samar's notes circulated within a narrow geographic and social network: Filipino guerrilla units, sympathetic civilians, and USAFFE-affiliated personnel. The boards had no formal banking infrastructure, and denominations were often produced in extremely limited quantities on whatever paper stock was available locally.
Surviving examples from Samar are considerably scarcer than those from larger resistance-currency programs like Mindanao or Leyte.
