Guerrilla currency from the Japanese occupation period. Following the fall of the Philippines in 1942, American and Filipino resistance forces on various islands organized their own monetary systems to maintain a functioning local economy and sustain military operations — both against Japanese scrip and against the psychological pressure of occupation. Negros Island was among the more organized of these efforts, with the IV Philippine Corps operating a semi-formal command structure that included locally printed notes.

The printing itself was improvised. Paper supplies, ink quality, and press availability varied considerably across issues, and the 711A designation distinguishes this from related Negros emissions that differ in plate detail or paper stock. Japanese forces treated possession of guerrilla currency as a punishable offense.
