| Obverse description | Plain white note with black letterpress text throughout. The upper portion bears the issuer name PHILIPPINE NATIONAL BANK and the legend EMERGENCY CIRCULATING NOTE OF 1941, with the denomination TWO PESOS in large bold type at centre. The Philippine National Bank's Bacolod branch issued this note under emergency conditions following the Japanese invasion. When Manila fell and the central government's supply lines collapsed, regional branches and provincial governments across the archipelago began printing their own emergency currency — a decentralized scramble that produced dozens of distinct local issues in 1941 and 1942. The Negros Occidental issues are among the more documented of these, but survival rates remain low given wartime destruction and the humid Philippine climate, which is brutal on paper stock.
