备注

Valle de la Serena is a small municipality in the province of Badajoz, Extremadura — deep in Republican-held territory during the opening phase of the Spanish Civil War. Like hundreds of Spanish towns cut off from normal banking channels after the July 1936 nationalist rising, the local council issued its own emergency paper scrip to keep small transactions functioning. These municipal emissions were never coordinated nationally; each town acted on its own authority, which is why denominations, designs, and paper quality vary so wildly across the series.

Survival rates for these tiny local issues are unpredictable. Some towns printed very small quantities; others printed more than they needed and simply burned the surplus when central Republican currency was restored.
