Sindicat Agrícola de Solivella was one of hundreds of Catalan cooperatives and local bodies that filled the currency vacuum left when the Republican government lost effective control over everyday exchange during the Civil War. These small-denomination emergency emissions — known collectively as "moneda de necessitat" — were a practical response to the hoarding of metallic coin, not a political gesture. Solivella is a minor agricultural township in the Conca de Barberà comarca, and its sindicat would have issued these notes primarily to pay members and facilitate local trade within the cooperative's own economic orbit.

Imprenta De Ferrando in Reus produced notes for several such bodies across the Camp de Tarragona region, which keeps production quality consistent but makes attribution to individual issuers essential.
