The 1938 Republican 2 Pesetas series was issued by the Ministerio de Hacienda y Economía during the final, desperate phase of the Civil War, when the Republican government had lost control of much of its industrial base and was printing currency under active military threat. The Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre in Madrid continued operating for the Republic until the city's fall in March 1939.
This particular listing is a replica — worth noting clearly, as P#95 originals do surface, and the distinction matters considerably. The original series is notable for its relatively clean production quality given the circumstances of issue.
