Opmerkingen

Puigvert de Lleida was one of hundreds of Catalan municipalities that issued their own emergency fractional currency during the Civil War after the Republican government's coin supply collapsed almost entirely in 1936–37. The Consell Municipal — by that point functioning under anarcho-syndicalist influence across much of rural Lleida province — had essentially no other option. Local commerce needed a medium of exchange, and Madrid was not providing one.

Arts Gràfiques Ilerda, a Lleida-based print shop, produced notes for several surrounding municipalities during this period, which gives the Turró-catalogued Puigvert issues a certain regional coherence. The thick card stock was a practical choice — thinner paper wore out quickly under the handling these small-denomination notes received in daily market use.
