La Almolda is a small municipality in Zaragoza province, and like hundreds of similar Spanish localities, it issued its own emergency paper money during the Civil War after the Republic's small-change coinage effectively vanished from circulation in 1936. These consejo municipal notes were produced under extreme local conditions — often by whoever had access to a press — with the official stamp serving as the primary authentication device in the absence of more sophisticated security infrastructure.
The Gari Monovar catalogue lists this as type E within the 142 series, indicating multiple emission variants exist for La Almolda, which is unusual given the town's modest size.
