Opmerkingen

Fayón is a small Ebro valley municipality in Aragon, and like dozens of similarly sized towns, its local council issued emergency fractional currency during 1937 when the Republican zone faced a catastrophic shortage of small-denomination coinage. These municipal emissions — autorizado by the regional government — were produced locally with whatever printing resources were at hand, which is precisely why paper quality and impression consistency vary so dramatically between surviving examples.

The Gari Montllor catalogue remains the definitive reference for Aragonese municipal issues, and the D suffix on #636 indicates a specific paper or print variant within the Fayón 2 Pesetas group. Given the town's proximity to the Ebro front, notes that survived the 1938 Nationalist advance did so largely by accident.
