Camprodon is a small Pyrenean market town in Girona province, and like hundreds of Catalan municipalities it issued its own fractional paper money during the Civil War after the Republican government's decree of September 1936 authorized local authorities to fill the coin vacuum caused by hoarding and metallic currency disappearing from circulation. The Grafos imprint is significant — the Barcelona printing house had been collectivized by its workers under CNT-FAI control by late 1936, making this note a product of anarcho-syndicalist labor organization as much as municipal necessity.
Turró catalogues these Camprodon emissions as genuinely scarce; small-town issues with low original print runs rarely survived the post-war period intact.
